Paper Size Converter

Convert common document, drawing, and print sheet sizes into the units used by layout apps, export dialogs, and raster artwork. The table keeps finished sheet dimensions separate from bleed, margin, and printer scaling assumptions.

ISO and US sheets

Compare A-series sizes with Letter, Legal, Tabloid, and Ledger before exporting documents.

Design-unit checks

Use points and inches when moving between print layout tools and CSS or PDF settings.

Raster planning

Use the 300 DPI pixel estimate to plan high-resolution exports for finished sheet sizes.

How paper size conversion works

Paper sizes are stored as finished sheet width and height. Metric ISO sizes start from millimeter dimensions, while North American and ANSI sizes are inch-based and converted through the exact inch relationship. Pixel estimates multiply physical inches by 300 DPI. Use those pixels for image planning, not as a guarantee that a printer will reproduce every dot independently.

Paper size questions

Which paper sizes are included?

The converter includes ISO A0 through A6, US Letter, Legal, Tabloid, Ledger, and common ANSI drawing sizes. Each size is shown in millimeters, centimeters, inches, points, and pixels at 300 DPI so print and layout checks can use the same reference.

Why does the pixel result use 300 DPI?

Three hundred DPI is a common print-preparation reference for high-quality raster output. The converter uses it as a practical planning value, not as a requirement. Some printers and workflows may use different effective resolutions.

Is A4 the same as US Letter?

No. A4 is 210 x 297 mm, while US Letter is 8.5 x 11 inches, or 215.9 x 279.4 mm. They are close enough to cause layout mistakes, so documents should be checked before printing across regions.

What is the difference between Tabloid and Ledger?

Tabloid and Ledger use the same physical sheet size, 11 x 17 inches, but the orientation is different. Tabloid is usually portrait-oriented and Ledger is usually landscape-oriented in office and print contexts.

Can I use this for print bleed?

The converter gives finished sheet dimensions. If a printer requires bleed, add the bleed amount to each edge before exporting artwork. For example, 0.125 inch bleed adds 0.25 inch to total width and height.
