Method

Why each physical converter has its own base unit

Physical unit conversion is not one generic operation. Mass uses kilograms, temperature uses kelvin and offset formulas, speed uses meters per second, and pressure uses pascals. Treating all four categories as simple multiplication would produce wrong temperature answers and unclear pressure or speed context.
